Ok, so a massive thank you to everyone who came out to pick up litter with a definite sense of attitude at our “We are not amused” event on the 5th March. Did you spot the Queens on Ayres Road on Saturday? We do hope that we raised a few smiles, and a few eyebrows.
Ayres Road looked lovely once we had done our bit – there was an amazing amount of litter to pick up – cigarette butts being particularly difficult little blighters! We hope that you noticed the difference over the weekend on your shopping expeditions and trips to the post office.
Vote for the best Her Royal Highness on the day goes to Malc – shame the only prize is a clean street – but then maybe that’s enough in life.
Look out for the next litter pick with attitude – it will be themed, and coming in fancy dress will help our efforts stand out even more (as well as raising a few smiles and eyebrows).
“We are not amused!”, words first uttered by Queen Victoria in 1919 echo down the years as many residents in Old Trafford feel the same about the amount of rubbish and fly tipping in our neighbourhood – it just isn’t funny.
Sat 5th March join the `Queens’ in a litter pick with attitude. Dig out your twin set and pearl; your wellingtons and head scarves; your crown jewels and feather boa! Come as a Queen (your choice as to what Queen!!) . Help pick up litter – look out for HRH to find us – starting at the post office on Ayres Rd 1pm finishing around 2pm.
(Fancy dress is optional, but most definitely advisable, equipment provided and children welcome if accompanied by a parent/carer).

December 5th 2015 Love Old Trafford took to the streets as robbers – not to commit a crime but to prevent one! In the first of a series of comedy litter picks LOTs is attempting to make litter picking fun. I know sounds impossible, but dressed as comedy robbers in all black or in stripey tops we litter picked for over the planned hour. Even more entertaining was when Elaine managed to get her litter picker stuck in the clothes bin draw as a team of robbers attempted to un-block the bin of a cushion that was leaving clothes piled up on the street rather than disposed of properly.
Keep looking out for the next comedy litter pick – and take the plunge to come along, dressed appropriately, and become part of the spectacle. Help clean up Old Trafford and highlight the need for us all to take care in getting rid of our rubbish – “It’s a Crime!” for so much litter to be found around Old Trafford. Be part of the solution.
If you go down to Upper Chorlton Road on the corner of Kings Road and wait for the 86 bus, you might be in for a little surprise. The Rooster of Old Trafford is spotted regularly, here, scratching about and going about his business.
This is also a potential spot for community growing. Live nearby? Interested? Get in touch.
